#MAC OPENGL 4.3 INSTALL#
I know it's not the idea solution, but if all you have is a Mac and you want to develop with modern OpenGL you gotta install Windows on it. This table lists Legacy OpenGL extensions and parameter values reported for macOS 10.7.5. After installing Bootcamp driver, latest nVidia drivers, VS2019 and few SDK I was able to build my engine on Windows and guess what.

I used Bootcamp to make a Windows partition and I installed Windows 10 along side OS X on my Mac. Luckily I was able to still use my Mac and develop with OpenGL 4.5 :) The answer is Bootcamp. But ANGLE also targets desktop OpenGL (and vulkan), and as OpenGL 4.3. I wanted to use 4.5 features without having to buy a whole new windows/linux machine. OpenGL is only outdated on macOS where Apple hasnt updated it for 8 years. Over 1,000 people have signed a petition calling on Apple to include support for OpenGL 4.3 and the ZFS file system in the company’s upcoming Mac OS. I was developing mainly on 2012 MacBook Pro and I quickly hit the OpenGL 4.1 wall!!! This was very discouraging that Apple no longer supports OpenGL and stopped development at version 4.1. If not, then go to this site Open up Xcode 4.3, then click on Xcode-Developer Tools, then open the app up.

Open up Xcode 4.3, then click on Xcode-Developer Tools, then open the app up. OpenGL 4.3 integrates developer feedback and continues the rapid evolution of this royalty-free specification while maintaining full backwards compatibility, enabling applications to incrementally use new features while portably accessing state-of-the-art graphics processing unit (GPU) functionality across diverse operating systems and platforms.
#MAC OPENGL 4.3 DRIVERS#
I tried deleting the old drivers (10.) and installing the newest ones (15.) manually but they automatically downshift to the old ones. I very quickly picked up on GLSL and the modern core profile, and quickly wanted to experiment with features like shader storage buffers etc. But, the app OpenGL ES Performance Detective looks similar. I use ProBook 4540s with integrated Intel 4000, which should be compatible with OpenGL 4.3, but HP has still not provided us fitting drivers as the latest ones on HP site are only using OpenGL 4.0. I recently got back into 3D graphics development (working on my own 3D engine, progress documented here: ) and decided to use OpenGL as my graphics API because I used it in the past (15+ years ago, so I was only used to fixed pipeline).
